Give!Local for #GivingTuesday Today!

Since 2012, the world has celebrated Giving Tuesday on the first Tuesday of December, a movement bringing people together “for one common purpose: to celebrate generosity and to give.” This year, the POP Project encourages you to give back to your community by giving to POP.

The POP Project is a 100% privately funded organization. Every dollar given goes directly to our programmatic and administrative needs. Further, every dollar donated translates to $10 in books donated to men, women, and children in our community. We’re currently participating in the Mountain Xpress’s Give!Local fundraising platform and have raised $184 or 6% of our $3,000 budgetary goal.

Please help sustain POP through 2016 by making your donation today! If just 100 people gave $30, we could reach our goal.

We’re excited about our progress in Give!Local, but we know that our supporters have things other than dollars to give. Here are a few additional things you can do today on Giving Tuesday to support our mission:

  1. GIVE CHILDREN’S BOOKS—POP currently has a surplus of adult fiction and nonfiction, but is always in need of books for children and youth from birth through high school. Please take your extra children’s books to one of POP’s drop boxes around town, to Asheville Community Yoga during the month of December, or contact us to arrange a pickup for larger donations.
  1. GIVE A WISH-COME-TRUE MOMENT—With a budget dependent on private donations, sometimes POP has to juggle which supplies and equipment are essential and which must wait until the next donation. Help us make those decisions easier. Consider purchasing one of the items on our Wish List or sending a donation designated to our Wish List Fund.
  1. “GIVE A (DOT)ORG SOME (DOT)LOVE”—How much do you know about the POP Project? Take some time to learn more about what we do. Explore our website and blog posts, then help us get the word out about our mission, our successes, and our ongoing needs. Like us on Facebook, on Twitter @thepopproject, and Google+.
  1. GIVE US YOUR IDEAS—POP is always excited to grow and expand to new locations in Buncombe and surrounding counties. Are you in Henderson, Madison, or Haywood counties and know an organization in need of adult fiction or nonfiction? Are you even a little farther west or east? We’d love to help! Contact us today to tell us more about your needs or ideas.
