The POP Project doesn’t have a lot of overhead, but what we do have is integral to our mission. Nearly 80 percent of POP’s annual budget goes to the cost of storing the books in our care until they find new homes.
Have you noticed that the donation bar on our homepage hasn’t budged in the past few months? That’s not a technical glitch or an oversight on our end. POP has only raised about half of our budget for the year. As we’re now heading into June, that means we’re dangerously low on our storage funds.
Without your help, POP may have to scale back on the amount of books we are able to collect and the range of books we are able to distribute within the community.
Please help POP continue to meet our mission to the fullest. Consider giving in one of these ways to help us meet our storage costs.
1. Give on the Site
POP’s fundraising platform is set up on PayPal. That means you are able to give once or set up a recurring monthly donation through your existing PayPal account. Don’t have PayPal? Scroll down to the credit card icons at the bottom left and make a donation with your credit card or bank account. Click on the button in your sidebar now.
2. Give by Mail
POP loves getting mail! Send us donations at: PO Box 18653, Asheville, NC 28814. Did you know that we have special donation and sponsorship levels? Donors are recognized in our monthly email newsletter, and storage sponsors are mentioned at the top of the list.
3. Buy a Sandwich
POP is the designated charity for Loretta Cafe’s June 20th Big Hug Super Saturday. We will receive 10% of Loretta’s sales for the day. Come out for a delicious sandwich, bring your dad for an early Father’s Day surprise, and help POP in the process. Click here for more info.
4. Buy a Book
POP invites you to our Rethink Ink Book Sale Fundraiser on June 27. There will be many types of books available during the sale for $1 and up, and all proceeds go directly to supporting the POP Project. We will be bringing books that we currently have in surplus, and which are not ideal donations for our current list of partnering organizations. Click here for more information about the event.
5. Donate a Space
Do you have an old warehouse or back office that you’re not using? POP would not need to focus our budget on storage if we had a better place to keep books and hold volunteer hours. We need 300+ square feet of space to manage our current inventory. We are a 501(c)3 organization. Contact us to talk more about our needs and the possible tax benefits for you.
