This week, POP’s Homeward Books volunteers sorted, counted, and packaged hundreds of books bound for new homes in South Carolina.
We send our special thanks to Connie for coming out to learn about what we do, and help us put the book donations together. We filled a dozen boxes, and subsequently a whole car trunk, with books for men and women in need in Columbia, SC, as well as near Charleston. Over $1,500 worth of books are now on their way this week to new homes.
POP’s last book donation in South Carolina was in September of 2010. While we strive to make out-of-state donations annually, we are limited by the number of volunteer drivers we currently have.
Do you travel often? Can you make an extra stop during your next road trip? If you are interested in helping POP drive books to their new homes – whether it be locally, or across the Southeast – please let us know!
The POP Project donates books to a variety of organizations around Western North Carolina and to state prisons in 5 states across the Southeast. For more information about the POP Project, visit our website or contact us today. To sign up for our next Homeward Books volunteer date, click here.
