This year, National Banned Books Week focused on the literary value of the growing number of graphic novels and comic books that have been challenged and banned by libraries, school, and communities across the nation and around the world.
In response, the POP Project partnered with ZaPow! in downtown Asheville, the southeast’s only illustrative art gallery, for our annual Banned Books Week program. We had an interactive photo booth at ZaPow! where participants could dress up like their favorite banned book character and have their photos taken in that iconic photo booth strip.
The POP Project would like to thank ZaPow! for their generosity and participation in our Banned Books Week event. And thanks to all those who came out and supported the freedom to read. We had a great time, and we hope you join us again next year.
