Rethink Ink at Willow’s Dream was a Success!

Willow's Dream, 64 Broadway, AshevilleLast Sunday, the POP Project held our first Rethink Ink Book Sale Fundraiser of 2016 on the rooftop patio of Willow’s Dream in downtown Asheville. The weather was great, and we had a nice turnout!

POP’s board members helped load books upstairs and set them up in the salon and on the rooftop patio. Despite the heat of the day, the patio had a nice breeze, and an even greater view of passerby by on Broadway below.

Dozens of book lovers came by to search through our selection and take a few lucky books home. Several took advantage of our “bag deal” and filled up a reusable grocery bag for $15. Overall, the results of the sale were:

  • 76 Books Sold
  • $150 Raised

All proceeds from the sale will be applied to POP’s general fund. Every dollar in POP’s budget translates to $10+ free books redistributed back into the community. Thanks to the results of Rethink Ink, men, women, and children across WNC will receive upwards of $1500 in free books by the end of the year.

Thanks to our Volunteers and Supporters!

We could not have organized a successful fundraiser without the help of our board and supporters! Your help was immeasurable, and we owe you our gratitude.

POP sends our biggest thanks to Willow’s Dream salon and boutique for opening up specially on Sunday just for our fundraiser. In addition to great service, we’re sure that their community mindedness is among the reasons they’ve been voted #1 in Best of WNC. We encourage all of POP’s supporters to check out their fun boutique or book time with one of their stylists. It’s true that “when you first step into Willow’s Dream you feel the magic and inspiration everywhere.“

More Help is Needed

The work of a nonprofit is never done. Please continue your support of POP through these three means:

JOIN US AT THE BLOCK: Join us at THE BLOCK off biltmore on Tuesday, July 19th from 5:00–11:00 pm for small bites and a beverage. THE BLOCK will donate 10% of sales that evening to support the POP Project. RSVP on Facebook.

GIVE ONLINE: The POP Project is still looking for monthly donors to help us reach our 2016 budget of $3,000. We’re now 70% of the way there! Please see our donation page for details about making a one-time donation or becoming a regular monthly sponsor.

SUGGEST DELIVERY LOCATIONS: Books available during the Rethink Ink Book Sale Fundraiser were many that we had in surplus, as well as those which were not ideal donations for our current list of partnering organizations. The POP Project has a wide-ranging additional supply of books to give. If you know of any organizations in town that would benefit from having more books on hand, let us know today!
