Need Books? Help POP Spring Clean our Storage Units

IMG_0788Although today you can’t tell it was ever here, spring was in the air this weekend. The sun came out, birds were chirping, and the temperature raised enough to merit opening doors and windows for the afternoon.

On the first nice day of the season, POP has a ritual: We go to our storage units and review our inventory.

Currently, the POP Project has 200 square feet of storage space. Right now, all that space is pretty heavily utilized by books that are ready to find new homes. But if we had our way, we’d need much less space because the books would be given out.

The POP Project gives free books to a variety of locations in Buncombe and surrounding counties, including food pantries, homeless shelters, detention centers, and low income schools. We invite you to look through our list of book topics below and contact us if you know an agency or organization that would benefit from a delivery of free books.

The POP Project currently has an oversupply of books in the following categories:

  • Adult hardcover and paperback fiction
  • Autobiographies
  • Poetry and literature
  • Reference books
  • Children’s books*
  • Cookbooks
  • Home and garden
  • Crafts
  • Religion and spirituality
  • New age and eastern religion
  • Self help
  • Business and finance
  • Health and wellness
  • Family planning and relationships
  • General history
  • Women’s studies
  • Black history
  • Science
  • Sociology and current events
  • Sports
  • Travel
  • CDs/tapes of books and music
*NOTE: The POP Project gives children’s books from board books and early readers through YA fiction and nonfiction. However, due to the demand for these books, our ability to give to new locations in large quantities is limited. If you are in need of children’s books, please ask and we’ll let you know what we have available.

Don’t see what you’re looking for?

POP is always taking in new book donations. Let us know what books your readers would like and we can tailor a delivery to meet your needs as those books come in.
