Your Community Needs You to Give Local this #GivingTuesday

Right now, local libraries are closed or running limited hours. Children are learning from home, without access to school libraries. Local families are in need of assistance in record numbers. Budgets are being cut. And local organizations are hosting programs largely online, where access to broadband internet is a must.

That’s not a problem for families and individuals who are fortunate enough to shelter in place without worrying about how they will access the training, education, and business support they need to succeed. But how are many low-income neighborhoods and communities keeping up—much less getting ahead during these unprecedented challenges? And what are you able to do for fun when group activities are dangerous and winter weather makes it difficult to spend time outside?

Books are still there to help.

The POP Project’s only mission is to spread the power and possibilities of literacy through a greater access to printed books. We’re here to deliver FREE early childhood education, cooking lessons, business training, art classes, music lessons, history lectures, and escapes to other worlds—all through the power of print.

But we need your help in order to succeed with our mission!

GIVE LOCAL THIS #GIVINGTUESDAY!

This #GivingTuesday on December 1, POP is raising $250 in 24 hours to deliver $2,500 in FREE books back into our community

The POP Project has a Give Local fundraising goal of $1,500 by December 31. We have currently raised $225, or 15%, of that goal.

Help us get over our first fundraising hurdle! We hope to reach $500 by the end of #GivingTuesday!

WHY GIVE LOCAL? YOU CAN HELP POP GIVE BOOKS…

The POP Project is 100% privately funded. That means 100% of all cash and in-kind donations go toward our main mission to collect gently used books, sort, match, and deliver them to local agencies and touchpoints around Western North Carolina—at no cost to agencies or readers! We get FREE books to everyone who wants and needs them.

What’s more, every dollar you give is multiplied tenfold. Because of the way our organization is structured, each dollar donated translates to $10+ in FREE books delivered to men, women, and children in our community.

Best of all for you, your gift of $25 or more means you get gifts back in return!

…WHILE YOU EARN INCENTIVES

Give Local is Mountain Xpress’ online fundraising initiative benefiting 44 local nonprofits through donations of all sizes. The POP Project is one of the few nonprofits to participate for the program’s sixth year in a row! As our biggest fundraising push, Give Local helps us gear up for 2021 by bringing in our largest collective funds of the year.

But nonprofits like POP aren’t the only ones reaping rewards from Give Local. As a donor, you get some great swag, too. Anyone who donates at least $25 total through the program receives a coupon book filled with great deals for awesome local retail, restaurants, and services around town.

If that sounds like a great incentive to you, please give on Giving Tuesday.
