Gearing Up for Day of Caring

DSCF2269The POP Project is excited to be paired with the Literacy Council of Buncombe County for our second Day of Caring volunteer day with their organization. The Literacy Council is sending staff members to act as volunteers for the POP Project and donate an afternoon toward our mission.

In 2012, the Literacy Council lent us five absolutely wonderful volunteers for our Day of Caring project. In just a few short hours, volunteers sorted, packed, and delivered donations to eight organizations and agencies around Asheville and Buncombe County, totaling over $5,500!

This year, Day of Caring takes place on September 12. We have most of our locations lined up, but have space for one or two more. If you organization is in need of a sizable book delivery, please contact us ASAP to participate as one of our donation locations. Email the POP Project at apopproject@gmail.com for participation details.

Day of Caring is an annual community-wide service day that pairs workforce volunteers with local nonprofits, schools, and public entities. POP encourages you to contact Hands On Asheville-Buncombe if you and your co-workers are interested in participating this year or in the future.
