Grove Park Inn Volunteers Deliver $3,300+ Books to 7 Locations in One Day!

This spring’s Days of Impact volunteer and book delivery day was full of excitement and book love. In addition to their great results, we enjoyed spending the afternoon with the really fun ladies of the Omni Grove Park Inn marketing team!

In just a few short hours, six volunteers from the Grove Park Inn helped us sort, count, and pack MORE THAN $3,300 worth of books. They then delivered the books to seven organizations and Little Free Libraries around Asheville and Buncombe County:

  • Asheville Fire Department Station 5 LFL
  • Craggie Detention Center
  • Deaverview Apartments LFL
  • Neil Dobbins Rehab Center
  • Charles George VA Medical Center
  • Hominy Valley Community Market
  • Verner Early Learning Center LFL

A special shoutout goes to GPI’s red team, who was responsible for packing the most books and driving the farthest. We appreciate their diligence and patience in the adventure that is delivering books.

The marketing team’s donation of time and effort ensured that hundreds of people within our community, including children and veterans, have a greater access to books. Now, many have their very own books to take home.

THANK YOU, GROVE PARK INN!

Days of Impact is Hands On Asheville-Buncombe’s semiannual block of volunteer days that pairs workforce volunteers with local nonprofits, schools, and public entities. 2018 marks the POP Project’s eighth year of participation (including hosting Day of Caring opportunities from 2011-2015), making this our tenth volunteer opportunity. In those years, POP and our various Day of Caring/Days of Impact volunteers have delivered more than $52,000 in books during these single-afternoon volunteer opportunities alone! POP encourages you to contact Hands On Asheville-Buncombe if you and your co-workers are interested in participating in Fall 2018.

Until then, check out some photos from last week’s Days of Impact session:
