Day of Caring 2012 – A Record for POP!

The Literacy Council of Buncombe County lent us five absolutely wonderful volunteers for our Day of Caring 2012 donation project.

In just a few short hours, volunteers from our sister nonprofit, the Lit Council, were able to sort, pack, and deliver donations to 8 organizations and agencies around Asheville and Buncombe County. It was a warm, sunny afternoon, and yet they came prepared to work hard, and make a difference. We could not have asked for more cooperative, helpful volunteers.

Thanks to the help of the Lit Council team, the POP Project was able to find homes for over $5,500 worth of books – ALL IN ONE AFTERNOON!

In 2011, POP Day of Caring team was able to deliver an amazing $4,300 worth of books. We were so thrilled to be able to increase our donations this year by nearly 28 percent!

Day of Caring is an annual community-wide service day that pairs workforce volunteers with local nonprofits, schools, and public entities. POP encourages you to contact Hands On Asheville-Buncombe if you and your co-workers are interested in participating in 2013.
