BB&T Helps POP with Day of Caring Donations

The POP Project recently completed our 4th annual Day of Caring volunteer day, thanks to a great group of volunteers from BB&T.

In just a few short hours, eight volunteers from BB&T offices around town helped us sort, count, pack, and deliver OVER $4,300 worth of books to eight organizations and agencies around Asheville and Buncombe County – all in one afternoon!

In a feat of true patience, the group did all their work huddled under a pop-up tent as the sky opened up above us in a truly unexpected summer storm. We were grateful of how dedicated the BB&T employees were in their mission to work hard and make a difference, regardless of what the forecast held in store.

Their donation of time and effort ensured that hundreds of people within our community, including children and veterans, have a greater access to books, and many have their very own books to take home.

2014 marked the POP Project’s fourth annual Day of Caring participation. In those four years, POP and our Day of Caring volunteers have delivered over $17,700 during Day of Caring volunteer opportunities alone. Day of Caring is an annual community-wide service day that pairs workforce volunteers with local nonprofits, schools, and public entities. POP encourages you to contact Hands On Asheville-Buncombe if you and your co-workers are interested in participating in 2015.
