Announcing POP’s First Grant Ever from the Glass Foundation!

The POP Project is extremely proud to announce that we recently received our first community grant from Asheville’s own Glass Foundation.

The $1,000 grant will be used separately from our general operating budget to purchase elementary and middle-grade children’s books. The books purchased will fill in gaps from our donated books to ensure that we have enough age appropriate, culturally relevant, and Spanish-language books to meet the needs of our community partners. We see this as a big step forward in our mission to further the cause of literacy and all the opportunities it provides.

POP would like to credit Lisa Coffey for her hard work in researching this opportunity and securing this grant. Lisa has recently begun to volunteer her excellent grant writing skills to our mission and this represents a big win for her and POP. Thank you, Lisa!

The Glass Foundation is a private family foundation helping the Western North Carolina region thrive as a whole community educationally, environmentally, and culturally and offer a distinctive quality of life. We’re proud that POP’s work was acknowledged to meet those goals.

As we begin to buy and distribute these new books, we’ll keep you—our supporters—up to date on our progress. We’re excited about the possibility of presenting new impact stories so you can share in the step-by-step success of our mission.

Stay tuned for more exciting things from the POP Project in 2016!
