The POP Project is very excited to announce that we recently received $2,500 from Duke Energy toward our little libraries project.
The Duke Energy grant will be used separately from our general operating budget to build and maintain free little libraries within our community. The POP Project has been working quietly behind the scenes to build local partnerships interested in developing more free libraries in public spaces across the city and county. These small boxes are designed to offer free books to passers by through a take-one-leave-one system. We see this as a big step forward in our mission to provide better access to books for neighbors across our community.
POP would like to credit Lisa Coffey for her hard work in researching this opportunity and securing this grant. Lisa has been putting her excellent grant writing skills to work for POP this year, and we appreciate her help and support. Thank you, Lisa!
The Duke Energy Foundation provides philanthropic support to address the needs vital to the health of our communities. Annually, the Foundation funds more than $25 million in charitable grants, with a focus on childhood literacy and community impact.
