The POP Project has been partnering with Usborne Books & More to provide NEW books to children in our area. You can help us make a larger impact by giving through an active online fundraiser.
The POP Project distributes free books in Buncombe County and across Western North Carolina, including to schools, low-income communities, food pantries, and children’s programs. However, POP doesn’t have enough children’s and YA books to meet all the area needs. That’s where Usborne comes in.
Usborne Books & More representative Andi Locke Mears is leading a fundraiser through YouCaring.com to supplement POP’s existing book inventory, as well as to offer specialized book topics that have been requested by certain locations. Andi’s passion is igniting the fire of imagination in children through books, and we’ve been excited to work with her over the last few months.
Though Usborne’s “Literacy for a Lifetime” grant-matching program, organizations that receive donations or grant funding (like POP) are able to maximize their fundraisers up to 150%. When funds are used to purchase books from Usborne Books & More, the publisher will match the donation funds with an additional 50% in free books. So, if we raise $1,000 on this site, Usborne will give POP $1,500 in free books. This is an awesome amount, and will go such a long way in helping kids get a great start in life!
