The POP Project held our latest Rethink Ink book sale fundraiser at the Hop last week, and—spoiler alert!—we had a great time!
About the Rethink Ink Book Sale at the Hop
What’s better than an evening of books and ice cream? If such an experience exists, we’ve never seen it!
The Hop graciously hosted our most recent Rethink Ink book sale fundraiser last Tuesday, August 14 from 5:00–8:00pm. Five tables of books were available for purchase, most for $1 and up. But even that much table space couldn’t hold the books we brought! An additional eight boxes were left open under the tables for adventurous readers to dig through.
POP brought books that we currently have in surplus, and which are not ideal donations for our current list of partnering organizations. From journals, to poetry, to cook books and your favorite novel that you haven’t read yet, there were hundreds of books from which to choose!
Both the Hop and Spellbound Children’s Bookshop generously donated a portion of their sales for the evening, making it easy for ice cream lovers to support the event and giving book lovers an excuse to buy ice cream, as well as a brand new kids books.
The Results of Rethink Ink 2018
As a volunteer-led organization, the POP Project measures success in terms of more than monetary value alone. Yes, we were excited about the funds raised (see below). But the process and experience of the event is just as important.
We had a great time holding an event at the Hop! The welcoming space, easy setup, and friendly crowds made the event one to remember!
Our thanks to the Hop and Spellbound for their support. And to the POP Project Board of Directors for organizing and working the event!
In three quick hours, we raised $82 in donations and used books sales, most $1 each. Spellbound’s own sales for the evening generated $23.32 to our total. The Hop also donated a portion of their sales for the evening, totaling a whopping $308!
Book Sale Breakdown
Book sales: $78.50
Spellbound: $23.32
The Hop: $308
Additional Donations: $3.50
TOTAL: $413.32!
Where the Rethink Ink Money Goes
Every dollar raised at Rethink Ink will translate into $10 in free books delivered back out into the communities of Buncombe, Henderson, and Madison Counties. That means that thanks to Rethink Ink, men, women, and children in need will receive more than $4,100 in FREE BOOKS!
Thanks, again, to all of POP’s supporters for making this Rethink Ink book sale fundraiser a success! We couldn’t do what we do without you. Can’t wait to see you at the next Rethink Ink!
