POP Cares for Kids through our Books Giving Programs

logoThis month, the POP Project was able to give 266 books to CARING for Children, a local advocacy group that provides help for children and families in crisis. The organization currently has a small library at one of their locations, which POP’s donation will help sustain through the recent book delivery.

According to CARING for Children’s development director, Terri Bowman, “Thanks to everyone involved, our kids will have quality books to enjoy this summer and throughout the coming year!”

CARING for Children, Inc. seeks to nurture hope and create safety in the lives of children and families in crisis by providing high quality care, shelter, education and treatment. The organization currently has a variety of programs, including offering residential and foster care services. To learn more about CARING for Children, click here.

POP’s Children and Youth Giving Program, led by our dedicated volunteer Janine Obee, is dedicated to providing books to low-income and at-risk children and youth in Buncombe County. POP recognizes the power a few good books can have in the hands of children. POP’s Children and Youth Giving Program works with other literacy and advocacy agents like CARING for Children to improve access to books, and ultimately the ability for our community’s children to succeed.

Giving Books

Children are voracious readers when given the opportunity. POP is always in need of new or gently used children’s books. Please consider giving books, from picture and board books to high school-level novels, to benefit children in our community. Click here for donation details.

Adult Giving

The POP Project is currently seeking a dedicated volunteer for our Adult Book Giving Program. If you are interested in becoming more involved with community giving, are a self-starter, and have about 10 hours per week to collect, sort, and/or distribute books in Buncombe County (and possibly beyond), then we want you! Contact us today to discuss our needs and how you can help.
