The POP Project is excited to announce our participation in the 5th annual Mountain Xpress Give Local end-of-year giving program. We’re especially proud to say that we’ve been with the program since the beginning—This is our fifth year as one of the participating local nonprofits!
Last year, POP raised more than $1,000 through the program. Those funds helped us start the year off on the right foot and hit the ground running for our “10 for 10” Book Giving Campaign. This year, we hope to raise even more funds to support our mission into 2020.
And we know we can do it—with your help!
What is Give Local?
The Give Local online fundraising program is a Mountain Xpress initiative that encourages donors to make a big impact through micro-donations. With the same love behind it as the Buy Local/Shop Local movements, Give Local aims to develop a new generation of donors while strengthening nonprofits that benefit the local community. By giving a few dollars to any or all of the 45 participating nonprofits, you’re able to complete all your annual holiday giving at one time and on one secure site.
Best of all, you’ll know that each nonprofit receives 100% of donations made to them (free of all fees).
Give Local kicks off on October 24, 2019 at the Salvage Station (details coming soon). And the program runs through December 31. That’s also the time to pick up the Mountain Xpress with a glossy Give Local program booklet insert.
How does Give Local Work?
Give $1 to a new nonprofit you’ve never heard of. Give $20 to your favorite cause in town (like the POP Project!). Split another $150 among another half dozen nonprofits. Where and how much money you give is entirely up to you.
Once you have completed your donations for the season, simply check out once through the secure online platform. But nonprofits aren’t the only ones reaping rewards. Based on your total donations, you too are able to cash in—at a variety of local businesses. After January 1, you’ll receive a coupon book, any incentives specific to the nonprofits you supported, and (fingers crossed!) one of several grand prizes. The larger your collective donation, the more incentives you receive.
