Two Scoops and a Sprinkle of Books

There’s a new free library in town. And it’s somewhere your kids will beg to go!

New Free Library at The Hop

Earlier this month, POP helped The Hop Ice Cream Cafe start a free library inside their flagship Merrimon Avenue location. The Hop reached out for support, and we were more than happy to supply the shelf, several boxes of books to get them started, and an outline for their initial signage.

It’s not our first time working with The Hop, and we’re always proud to participate in their efforts to improve education and literacy within the community.

What’s on the Shelf?

This shelf space will focus on books for young readers and cookbooks. Come by for board books, picture books, early readers, middle grade fiction, and young adult books. Cookbooks (including as many as we can find about yummy desserts!) will bridge The Hop’s interests in producing quality local food and participating in educational endeavors.

Shout out to Read2Succeed Asheville, who also provided a large stack of children’s books by and about people of color!

How does this Free Library Work?

Like POP’s other official Little Free Libraries, this shelf operates on a few simple rules:

  1. Take a Book.
  2. Leave a Book.
  3. Enjoy a Story.
  4. Don’t leave a mess.

The shelf will be accessible anytime The Hop is open.

What will You Find?

The only way you’ll know what adventures you’ll find between the pages of these books is to drop by and see for yourself!

Tell them POP sent you.
