POP has New Book Donation Rules

In order to see that goal to fruition, the POP Project must have a wide selection of valuable books from which to choose for our deliveries. For the most part, we get some really great books. But we also get a fair number of stickers, as well. And sorting through those stickers eats away at both the valuable time of our volunteers, as well as our storage space and budget.

For those reasons, the POP Project has expanded our book donation rules and regulations. In addition to suggesting which books work well for the partnerships POP has in place, we’re now listing which books and materials POP cannot use. For instance, POP does not want to redistribute books that have been chewed on by your dogs, dunked in coffee, or which are supporting their own mildew ecosystem.

In short, if you are planning on donating your beloved books, first ensure that someone else can benefit from them. Before you donate to POP, ask yourself, “Would this book be found on my public library shelf?” If the volume is not in fair condition, please don’t give it to us.

POP is also instituting new rules based on the size of your donation. We’re currently topping out our storage units, but want to make sure there is still room available for donations representing our largest needs. There are now limits to the number of books we can take daily and annually from individual and group donors.

If you’re considering donating books to the POP Project, please read these rules first.
