The POP Project’s book delivery program got a boost recently through a donation from Ingles Markets. The local grocery chain recently gave POP a set of gas cards to distribute to volunteer delivery drivers.
POP is a 100% volunteer-led program. Our mission is built around the idea of community helping community, and our success is based upon the dedication of volunteers who help collect, sort, prepare, and deliver book donations across WNC. Since POP began in 2009, it has been difficult to find drivers who are willing to donate both their time and gas money toward the program.
Now, thanks to Ingles, POP is able to reimburse drivers who make deliveries outside Buncombe County. Ingles has generously donated 20 gas cards valued at $10 each to compensate drivers helping POP with our mission. We plan on using these cards to boost our deliveries to locations in Henderson, Madison, and Transylvania counties. But we’re also open to reaching further out as needs arise and we find drivers to fill them.
Help us Put these Cards to Good Use!
Need Books?: Do you work for an area agency or organization that would benefit from a book delivery? POP has many types of books to give. In many cases, we’re able to give by the box or by the carload, and can tailor the size and frequencies of the deliveries to your needs. Please contact us if you are in Madison, Henderson, Transylvania, or surrounding counties and would like a few great books.
Volunteer with POP: If you would like to make a big impact in a short amount of time, we’d love to talk to you. Delivering books is a relatively low-intensity task, but you’d be responsible for distributing up to thousands of dollars of free books in a single afternoon. This would be a great opportunity for people who live in Henderson, Madison, or Transylvania counties, but who come into Asheville on occasion. In most cases, we can build the delivery around your existing travel schedule. Contact us to learn more.
