Spellbound Children’s Bookshop invites you and the family to a costume party in celebration of International Star Wars Day, May the fourth, from 1:00 – 2:30 pm. Come and enjoy intergalactic snacks, an awesome door prize (especially if you like wookies), and a costume contest – of course! Plus, all Star Wars-themed books and gifts will be on sale.
The party will also feature a very special visit from members of the Carolina Garrison of the 501st Legion. The group will appear in full Star Wars regalia, so come with your camera if you’d like photos, or come with your light saber if you’re ready to fight.
Best of all, the party also serves as a book drive/fundraiser for the POP Project! The price of admission (per child) is the donation of at least one book in good condition or a $2 monetary donation to POP. We hope while you’re there you purchase a few great books to take home, as well.
We’re looking forward to seeing you there! Spellbound Children’s Bookshop is located in The Lofts at Reynolds Village in North Asheville, across from the new Thirsty Monk location. 50 North Merrimon Avenue, Suite 107, Asheville, NC 28804.
About Spellbound Children’s Bookshop
Spellbound Children’s Bookshop is an independent bookstore with a great selection of books for children of all ages, from birth through their late teens. Owner Leslie Hawkins founded the store in 2004 to inspire lifelong readers in Western North Carolina.
In 2013, Spellbound held a crowdfunding campaign to raise funds for a planned move and expansion. Those goals were realized last October when the shop reopened in The Lofts at Reynolds Village, north of Asheville and directly off I-26.
Today, Spellbound once again inhabits a 100 percent kid-centered space with an inventory of new books (and a small selection of used books), plus a variety of book-themed programs. The bookshop holds regular story times for little ones and book clubs for older readers. Spellbound also hosts authors, workshops, performances, and more for readers of various ages.
In July 2014, all the shops in Reynolds Village will be participating in a month-long “Find Waldo” game organized by Spellbound to encourage people to visit the neighborhood’s great independent businesses and shop local. Each participating business will have a cardboard Waldo hiding somewhere inside. To play the game, shoppers should pick up a passport from Spellbound and get it stamped at each participating business where you spot the Waldo. When your passport is full, bring it back to Spellbound and you’ll be entered to win a variety of prizes, including free books and prizes donated by all the participating businesses.
