The POP Project Needs You: Join Our Board of Directors

The POP Project wants you to join our board of directors.Do you have lots of volunteer experience and want to step up your involvement in the community? Are you interested in making an impact more than one event or volunteer opportunity at a time?

The POP Project has an open board position. And we’d love to have you!

We’re a growing 501(c)3 nonprofit. That means that you have the opportunity to help us direct our growth, which could have an impact many years down the line. And yet, the POP Project is still intimate enough that all board members serve on our Board of Directors. That makes us a great fit for members with a wide variety of experience and personal goals.

Curious about what you’d be getting into? A few functions of the POP Project Board of Directors include:

  • Help POP form and achieve a set of long-range goals that meet our mission.
  • Develop financial resources for achieving our goals and monitor POP’s operating budget.
  • Be a POP Project Ambassador to form linkages with the community at large and other community organizations.

Certain expectations are held to make sure the board completes these functions. In order to make POP the best we can be, board members should:

  • Attend and participate openly in all board meetings and trainings, which occur bi-monthly to quarterly.
  • Understand the POP Project’s mission, long-range goals, and programs.
  • Give fully and enthusiastically of your time, money, and expertise (and we recognize that this varies).
  • Solicit funds, participate in campaigns, and open doors for others to raise funds.
  • Participate in the POP Project’s events, projects, and programs.
  • Be a book ambassador and advocate for the POP Project in the community.

If this is your first time considering a board position, don’t be wary. We’re literature lovers who want to share books with members of our community. First and foremost, we’re looking for someone who shares that goal. And remember, these responsibilities are held by everyone on the board.
