Homeward Books Expands into Full Afternoon Event!

imagesThe POP Project is excited to expand our existing Homeward Books program into a quarterly afternoon volunteer opportunity! With your help, we will now be able to deliver thousands of dollars in books to children and adults in need within our community in a single afternoon!

With Homeward Books, POP volunteers create book packages for people with low or no access to books. These “book shelf starter-kits” and larger-scale donations are delivered to schools, children’s programs, retirement centers, homeless prevention centers, and other organizations in Asheville and surrounding areas.

volunteer2WE NEED YOU! The Homeward Books delivery program cannot succeed without great volunteers to sort, package, and deliver the books. Make a difference to people in need within the Asheville and Buncombe County communities. Sign up today to participate!

Volunteers will sort, count, and package boxes of books. Volunteers will then deliver books to predetermined locations in Buncombe County. Let us know your interests and location when you sign up, and we will try to tailor your delivery to you.

This opportunity allows volunteers to experience POP deliveries from start to finish. For that reason, personal means of transportation for book delivery is required for this volunteer opportunity.

Homeward Books is a Hands On managed Flex Project. The project began last year as a monthly book sorting opportunity designed specifically to meet the needs of Homeward Bound of Asheville’s placement program. While the program will now occur less often, Homeward Books will now have a greater and more immediate impact for people in need within our community.
