The POP Project is excited to be The Whale’s nonprofit of the month for June 2024! And as part of that partnership, The Whale threw us the best event imaginable: A grown-up book fair!
The Whaleastic Grown-Up Book Fair
June 15, 2024 @ 1:00–5:00 PM
The Whale organized a lineup of incredible vendors helping us bring this nostalgia packed event to life. Guests browsed books from Malaprop’s Bookstore, Chapters Bookstop book bus, Blue Moon Books, Firestorm Books, and Lit Local Books.
And the book fair wasn’t complete without its little trinkets for sale! Bookish artists and makers on hand included Two T’s Creative, Finn and The Whale, and Infoglassics.
But the fun didn’t stop there! Local authors were on hand throughout the day to meet guests and sign books:
- Kristin Dwyer, author of Some Mistakes Were Made
- Nikki Jefford, author of Spellcaster Wild Card
- Denise Kiernan, author of The Last Castle, & Joseph D’Agnese
- Anne-Fitten Glenn, author of Western North Carolina Beer
And last but not least, Literacy Together stopped by with Dolly Parton to share information about the Imagination Library.
There was no price for admission—just good times, great beer, and the opportunity to round up your tab. Several guests brought a few books to share with POP, and for that we are very grateful.
Thank you to all the vendors, authors, and guests who made the book fair a great event!
Keep the Fun Going!
Support POP and The Whale by visiting their West Asheville location throughout the month of June. You should be able to continue rounding up your tab to support POP’s efforts to find new homes for used books.
