Give!Local Wraps up as a Success
The POP Project is looking forward to helping more people enjoy a book-filled 2016, thanks to the generosity of our Give!Local donors. The Give!Local online fundraising program was an initiative led by the Mountain Xpress that allowed locals to help local nonprofits through micro-donations. POP was one of the 30 inaugural participating nonprofits, and will be receiving 100% of donations made to us through the site, minus credit card processing fees. And we’re very proud of the donations we brought in:
Thanks to Give!Local donors, POP raised $1,143 during the inaugural Give!Local online fundraising campaign, or 38% of our operating budget for 2016! Together with our offline donations, POP is starting the year with an additional $1,428 in our accounts.
The POP Project will use these funds to help cover operating costs so that our volunteer staff can focus on our mission and our passion: to provide more men, women, and children in our community with free access to books. Every dollar in POP’s budget translates to roughly $10 in books delivered to schools and headstart programs, nonprofit agencies, veterans’ facilities, and detention centers in Asheville and surrounding areas.
Thank you again to our Give!Local and offline end-of-year donors.
