A-B Tech Volunteers Deliver $4,900+ Books to 9 Locations in One Day!

This fall’s Days of Impact volunteer and book delivery day was full of teamwork and book love. It was great to have the A-B Tech communications and marketing staff back for a second October in a row!

In just a few short hours, eight volunteers from A-B Tech helped us sort, count, and pack MORE THAN $4,900 worth of books. They then delivered the books to nine organizations and Little Free Libraries around Asheville and Buncombe County:

  • Asheville Fire Department Station 2 LFL
  • Neil Dobbins Rehab Center
  • Eblen Intermediate School
  • Clyde Erwin Middle School
  • Charles George VA Medical Center
  • Hall Fletcher Elementary School
  • Hominy Valley Community Market
  • Western Carolina Rescue Ministries
  • YMCA Youth Services Center

The POP Project designs the day around the volunteers pairing up into teams and taking on deliveries from there. But A-B Tech’s staff jumped in and each helped each other find the right books needed for each delivery location. Kudos to them for leaving no team behind!

A-B Tech’s donation of time and effort ensured that hundreds of people in our community, including children and veterans, have a greater access to books. Now, many have their very own books to take home.

THANK YOU, A-B TECH MARKETING DEPARTMENT!

About Days of Impact

Days of Impact is Hands On Asheville-Buncombe’s semiannual block of volunteer days that pairs workforce volunteers with local nonprofits, schools, and public entities. 2018 marks the POP Project’s eighth year of participation (including hosting Day of Caring opportunities from 2011-2015), making this our eleventh volunteer opportunity. In those years, POP and our various Day of Caring/Days of Impact volunteers have delivered more than $57,000 in books during these single-afternoon volunteer opportunities alone! POP encourages you to contact Hands On Asheville-Buncombe if you and your co-workers are interested in participating next spring.
