Breaking and a Book @ The Hop to Benefit the POP Project

What is Breaking and a Book?

New in 2021, The Hop is hosting a weekly Facebook Live event called “Breaking and a Book.” Greg Garrison, owner of the local favorite business, shows off the breakdancing moves he’s been learning over the past year, and then he reads a children’s book.

Check out a recent event here.

The Hop is using the weekly virtual events to promote a local education-focused nonprofit each month. This month, tune in to support Literacy Together, formerly Literacy Council of Buncombe County. For March, we’re excited that The Hop wants to partner with POP!

How do I Participate in Breaking and a Book?

Tune in to The Hop’s Facebook page each Friday in March at 2:30PM to enjoy watching “Breaking and a Book” live on Facebook. The events run for around half an hour. Between the dancing and the book, Greg will share info about the POP Project’s programs and needs. If you hear about a program that strikes your fancy, reach out to us!

And indulge your sweet tooth the last week of the month (March 22–28). A portion of sales from The Hop’s online shop that week will come to POP!

The last Friday of the month, March 26, POP will be onsite outside The Hop to accept small-quantity book donations. Drop off gently used books you’re ready to pass along. POP will have a small selection of kids/YA books available for those who’d enjoy taking a new book (or two, or three!) home.
