Like Santa Claus, the POP Project’s sole mission is to deliver smiles in the form of FREE gifts each year. POP gets books into the hands of people who need them. But we can’t do it alone.
We called for help, and you answered! The POP Project is excited to help more people enjoy a book-filled 2024, thanks to you.
Storybook Holiday Online Fundraising Results
For the first time in several years, POP did not organize our end-of-year fundraising through Mountain Xpress’s Give!Local micro-fundraising platform. (It is that program’s objective to cycle out some participating organizations each year, and this was our year. We remain grateful to Give!Local for our long-time participation!)
However, many of our recurring Give!Local donors turned up to give online through our “Storybook Holiday” in-house fundraiser so POP could start 2024 on the right page.
THANKS TO LOCAL DONORS, POP RAISED $580 DURING THE 2023 STORYBOOK HOLIDAY FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGN!
This was a great response to our first “solo” fundraising effort in many years. The money raised will go toward our 2024 operational budget goal of $3,000.
Where the Money Goes
POP’s total 2024 budget is set at $3,000. We are thrilled to have a generous head start on our fundraising for the year.
The POP Project is 100% privately funded. That means 100% of all cash and in-kind donations go toward our mission to collect gently used books, sort, match, and deliver them to local agencies and touchpoints around Western North Carolina—at no cost to agencies or readers!
Every dollar in POP’s budget translates to roughly $10 in books delivered to schools and head start programs, nonprofit agencies, veterans’ facilities, retirement centers, food pantries, public Little Free Libraries, and detention centers in Asheville and surrounding areas—anywhere where there is a demonstration of need.
Your donations mean that more local schoolchildren will have access to reading materials at home. Local veterans have something to read while they wait for appointments. And neighbors in need can pick up some “brain food” along with other sundries at food pantries.
You’ve shown that, like us, you believe books build a stronger community. Here’s to a successful mission and a richer community in 2024!
