About the Homeward Books Flex Project

As a volunteer-led initiative, we need help sorting through the donated books. Books are divided into various categories/genres, and will be flipped through to remove any bookmarks, etc. Books will eventually be distributed to populations in need within our community. The only skills necessary are an interest in books and the ability to analyze genres by examining the books.

Notes about Homeward Books:

  • This is an outdoor project. Comfortable dress and shoes recommended.
  • Project dependent on good weather. POP reserves the right to cancel the project with 24 hours notice due to inclement weather.
  • Lifting up to 30 pounds would be helpful but is not a requirement.
  • There are no bathroom facilities on the premises.
  • POP provides water and a light snack.

What Next?

Volunteers who have personal transportation and are able are also invited to help deliver these books to organization partners in Buncombe County. Please let us know your availability! The POP Project works with other literacy and advocacy agents in Western North Carolina to improve book access for inmates, homeless populations, impoverished children, and those in need.
