POP Project needs volunteers to help collect and sort book donations by interest, genre, and binding.

The POP Project is a volunteer-operated nonprofit in Asheville that finds new homes for used books. Periodically, we are overwhelmed by the generosity of our donors, and need help sorting through the donated books. Books are divided into various categories/genres, and will be flipped through to remove any bookmarks, etc. Books will eventually be distributed to populations in need within our community, including children, the homeless, and prisoners.

Book sorting sessions typically last 2 hours. Light refreshments will be provided. Comfortable dress and shoes recommended, as this will be outdoor project. Project dependent on good weather. POP reserves the right to cancel the project with 24 hours’ notice due to inclement weather.

Volunteers who are able are also invited to help deliver these books to organization partners in Buncombe County! Please mention when you register if you are able to make book deliveries following the sorting session.
